Introduction Viruses are very efficient gene delivery agents, in that they are able to infect a broad spectrum of host cells, including post-mitotic cells such as neurones. Currently, the use of viral vectors both in research and in biotechnology applications is increasing. The number of systems for recombinant virus creation is rapidly growing and new advanced systems are developed every year. The scientific aim of the course is to give up-to-date information on the subject and teach the techniques for using some of the most common virus vector systems.
